| Artist Statement |
"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see." Edgar Degas
Ever since I could hold a crayon, I have made art in one form or another--from popsicle stick boxes to pencil and oil portraits of family, friends and pets, to photographs of faraway places or my own backyard. I love color and the feelings it evokes: happiness, sorrow, excitement, even indifference. I try to emphasize color in my artwork, using soft, subtle strokes, or large bold splashes, depending on the subject. I believe art, in whatever form, enriches our lives. I hope my art encourages people to stop for a moment and see, not so much what I see, but what speaks to them. |
